WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A 16-year-old Worcester girl has been ordered held without bail after being charged with suffocating her baby son with a teddy bear because she was frustrated he was ill.
Nga Thi Truong was arraigned on a murder charge Tuesday.
Police said Truong handed her unconscious 1-year-old son, Khyle Truong, to officers when they arrived at her apartment early Sunday.
Police said Truong first told police she found the child unresponsive, but later said she suffocated him.
Truong's attorney, Edward Ryan, said Truong is innocent and criticized the police interrogation. He said Truong was questioned for hours without having her mother or a lawyer there.
Her boyfriend, 17-year-old Edwin Vasquez, said the baby wasn't suffocated but died in his sleep.
