SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Springfield used car dealer says he's not a criminal after being arrested Monday on larceny charges.

Jon Hastings told the 22News I-Team the issues with his costumers are a civil matter and doesn't believe he should have been arrested.

Since the I-Team first reported his arrest and the reason for it the Springfield Police Department has received about a dozen more police reports.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney told 22News Hastings is accused of taking people's money but then never giving them a vehicle.

Hastings says the unhappy customers are leaving out crucial details in their complaints.

For instance, Shanice Morgan told the I-Team she was sold a vehicle without a title.

Hastings says her father actually took the vehicle form the lot before it was ready so he is holding the title until he can properly repair the car.

Hastings says he can't just sell a car when it is not working right because of the strict lemon law in Massachusetts.
