FLORENCE, Mass. (WWLP) - The autopsy of a 35-year-old Florence man who was fatally injured outside the Silk City Tap Room has been completed and his death is considered "suspicious".
District Attorney Elizabeth Scheibel told 22News that medical examiner Dr. Loren Mednick found that John Connell had suffered visible head trauma. Mednick is calling for more tests to rule out other possible causes and to determine the exact manner of death.
Connell was pronounced dead Saturday morning at three o'clock after being rushed to Cooley Dickinson Hospital; an hour after being injured outside the bar at 99 Main Street.
Northampton police Chief Russell Sienkiewicz told 22News that Connell had been in a dispute with another man that evening prior to Connell's fatal injury. That man has been identified, but so far no arrests have been made in connection with Connell's death.
Detectives have also been questioning a number of witnesses who were in the vicinity of the bar at the time of the fight leading up to Connell's death.
