Granby Police are ramping up efforts to prevent underage drinkers from buying alcohol at town package stores.

During the next few months, officers will be stationed at each of the three town package stores at different times.

Their goal will be to make sure teens to do not use fake I.D.'s and to put a stop to older people buying alcohol for minors.

22News spoke to one package store owner who hopes this approach pays off. "I believe so, I would hope so, it's impossible...it's not safe and we need to do something about this problem so I hope it works."

According to Sgt. Alan Wishart, a grant from the Massachusetts Executive Office of Public Safety and Security is making these efforts possible.
