SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The MSPCA has put out a call to action and the community is responding in great numbers.
Animal lovers rushing to rescue pets who will soon have nowhere to go once the shelter shuts down at the end of March 31st.
Every year nearly 7,000 animals call the Springfield MSPCA their home, but due to tough economic times these helpless animals are being forced to relocate.
"We're looking to adopt a kitten or a dog that no one wants...hopefully we'll find something," said Donna Wedenmeyer.
The MSPCA is closed on Monday but if you are looking to adopt an animal in need they will be back open on Tuesday.
