(WWLP) - Toyota has issued a consumer advisory for up to 3.8 million
vehicles.
They are instructing owners of certain Toyota and Lexus
models to remove their front, driver’s side floor mats. They
are concerned that the floor mats could get stuck on the
accelerator and cause an accident.
Already there have been 120 complaints and one crash that
killed four due to this problem.
The company says this is not a recall. But, they may issue
one in the near future.
The vehicles that are affected by this floor mat warning
include: 2007 to 2010 Camry, 2005 to 2010 Avalon, 2004 to 2009
Prius, 2005-2010 Tacoma, 2007 to 2010 Lexus ES350, 2006 to 2010
Lexus IS250 and IS350.
Bill Richard of Lia Toyota told 22News that this is a problem
that could affect more than just Toyota cars since most cars have
floor mats.
Richard said “After market mats, or mats from another
vehicle, mats that aren’t designed or approved by Toyota for
use in their vehicle should be removed immediately.”
