LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) - Anti-aging products are a multi-billion dollar industry. They know people are willing to spend big bucks to look good.
Dr. Stanley Glazer of New England Dermatology and Laser Center says you don't need to shell out a lot of cash for miracles in a bottle. He said "A lot of times you're paying for packaging and a lot of hype." He says people need to wear hats, moisturizer, and sun block everyday to prevent further sun damage which can cause wrinkles. He also said to avoid indoor tanning and smoking.
If you want a cream that does work, he says prescription creams are the most effective. However, they are also the most expensive. There are some over the counter creams that contain retinoid acid that are effective says Glazer. He said while they don't work better than prescription creams, they are considerably cheaper.
The best way to save money down the road is to wear SPF 15 or higher everyday. Also, make sure to put sun block on your hands and neck. They are often exposed to the sun and can suffer damage if not protected.
