SPRINGFIELD, Mass, (WWLP) - The state is moving ahead on plans for its backup Data Center in Springfield now that the site has been selected.

The Data Center will be located at the old Technical High School.

It'll cost $76 miliion to renovate the long-empty building.

Congressman Richard Neal of Springfield, who pushed for the site, says that security considerations played a role in the old school being selected. Neal said work is expected to begin in January 2010, with completion scheduled for 2012.
