WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) - Springfield's Brittany Barry landed on the soccer map, piling up
ridiculous numbers as a freshman at Sci-Tech. Now a junior at
Wilbraham and Monson Academy, Barry continues to find the
net. She scored her 100th career goal on Saturday and she is
our 22News athlete of the week.
"It means everything, from scoring 50 goals my freshman
year, I didn't even know I was going to score 100 goals until
someone mentioned it, I was like wow", says Barry.
Wow indeed., Barry is a 4 foot 11 inch goal scoring machine.
She is faster than most players and out-quicks the rest. She
believes she can get to any ball first and after that, more than
100 times a celebration ensues.
"I've been playing my whole life, since I was 3, every day all
the time, with my dad, my brother, anyone I could find, I just
practiced", says Barry.
Barry spent this past summer practicing and playing with the
New England Mutiny. An invaluable experience.
"Summer with the Mutiny, playing with 20 year old women, I started the season, sat the bench, finally played and it was an amazing opportunity" says Barry.
Barry plans to play with the Mutiny again this summer and will
likely have the opportunity to play Division I soccer after high
school.
