SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Cathedral has one of the best soccer traditions in all of
Western Massachusetts. Although, this is the first time in 3
years the Panthers have reached the postseason. Striker
Delano Brown is helping to lead the charge and he is the 22News
athlete of the week.
"It's been 2 years out of the postseason, we made it my
freshman year and its big to get back into the postseason for our
underclassman and it means alot for me as a senior", says
Brown.
Brown is quick and displays excellent foot-work. He creates
offense as well as anyone, which will make Cathedral a scary team
in the Western Mass tournament. When every goal means that
much more.
"I think we have the team to win it this year. It's not
any individuals, we don't have the best players, but as a team we
can contend with the best of the best", adds Brown.
Next year, Brown will be playing with the best around, when he heads to UConn. First, Cathedral has 2 weeks to get ready for its return engagement to the playoffs.
"We are working on our work ethic, if we work more and bring the intensity we'll be good", says Brown.
