WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - West Springfield's football team has had a hard luck start to
its season. They lost a pair of games late in the game.
Staring at a 1-3 record, some teams would quit. Not these
Terriers. Quarterback Terry Allen has led West Side back on
the favorable side of .500 and they are eyeing the playoffs. Allen
is the 22News athlete of the week.
"Everybody is stepping up, if they make a mistake, they make
up for it, everybody is playing as a team", says the Terriers
senior quarterback.
Allen is a dual-threat quarterback, with his arm and his
legs. His teammates respect him and his game.
"He's a great athlete, a slippery guy. He breaks
tackles left and right, I love to watch him play", says Terriers
running back Kyle Brodeur.
Allen is a team first guy, but doesn't mind when his coaches
call his number.
"I like the ball when it's in my hands, I like handing it
off, it makes me feel good when I throw it or give it to my running
backs." Allen continues, "It's a team sport and I love it."
With the team gelling and riding a four game winning streak,
Allen and West Side are thinking about football in December.
"The goal is to make the playoffs, then make it to the super
bowl", says Allen.
Next up for West Side is a game with Commerce on Friday.
