SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Sci-Tech football team is gearing up for a battle of unbeatens on Saturday. Leading up to the big game, Cybercats captain Tyron Wiggins is the 22News athlete of the week.
"Our goal is to take it to everyone that comes to us", says Wiggins.
They have, led by Wiggins, Sci-Tech is off to a perfect 4-0 start.
"I like the ball in my hands, when the ball is in my hands I can go to work", says Wiggins.
Wiggins plays just about every position; quarterback, running back, wide receiver, defensive back and he even punts. Sci-Tech head coach Elliot Best trusts Wiggins' instincts.
"He's an extension of a coach on the field. He understands the offense, he grasps it well", says Best.
Wiggins gets a lot of the snaps at quarterback, but Sci-Tech has a talented freshman Sam Blake. Wiggins is embracing his understudy.
"I like when they switch it up, we have a nice freshman. When he comes in, he holds his ground, giving up the ability to switch it up", says Wiggins.
Coach Best understands that Wiggins is the straw that stirs Sci-Tech's drink.
"He's our leader, we go with him. As he goes, we go", says Best.
Sci-Tech and Athol play Saturday October 17th at 1pm at Plumb Field in Springfield.
