CLEVELAND (AP) — The New York Knicks overcame a 22-point deficit without All-Star Carmelo Anthony to beat the Cavaliers 102-97 last night, ending a 10-game losing streak in Cleveland. Amare Stoudemire scored 22 points and J.R. Smith added 18 for the Knicks.

FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — The Boston Red Sox beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5-1 yesterday. Felix Doubront pitched 1 2-3 scoreless innings in his first outing of spring training. Dubront's debut was delayed by a sore left shoulder. He gave up one hit, walked two and struck out two. He threw 43 pitches.

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (AP) — The Atlanta Braves beat the New York Mets 4-2 yesterday. Mets right fielder Marlon Byrd had a hit and two RBIs. Ike Davis doubled and scored. Mets starter Jeremy Hefner went three innings, allowing three hits and struck out two.

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies beat the Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0 yesterday. A.J. Burnett walked in a pair of runs in Philadelphia's four-run second inning. The Pirates' opening-day starter lasted just 1 1-3 inning of a scheduled three because of a high pitch count. Phillies fifth starter John Lannan and four relievers combined on a one-hitter.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Robinson Cano's father says he expects the New York Yankees to re-sign their All-Star second baseman rather than let him leave through free agency after the season. Jose Cano says he hopes Robinson will spend his entire career in New York. Jose thinks his son will get a six- or seven-year contract. The 29-year-old Cano can become a free agent for the first time in his career after the World Series ends.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — Yankees general manager Brian Cashman has broken his right leg and dislocated the ankle while skydiving from a plane in Florida. Cashman jumped with the U.S. Army Golden Knights in a plane from Homestead Air Reserve Base outside Miami, a fundraiser for the Wounded Warrior Project. He was hurt on his second jump yesterday.

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — The New England Patriots have released fullback Spencer Larsen and offensive lineman Kyle Hix. Yesterday's moves came after both spent most of their time with the Patriots on injured reserve, Larsen for one season and Hix for two. Neither played in a game.

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Number 2 Notre Dame beat third-ranked Connecticut 96-87 last night in three overtimes to win Big East regular-season title outright for the second straight year. Skylar Diggins scored 29 points and sparked a decisive run in the third overtime. Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis led UConn with 26 points and Kelly Faris added 21.
