New England Patriots rushing leader Fred Taylor is expected to miss Sunday's game at the Denver Broncos with an ankle injury that could require surgery.

Taylor missed his second straight day of practice Thursday amid an ESPN.com report Thursday that he needs surgery on his right ankle. He would play again this season unless there are complications, the report said.

He was hurt on his final carry of Sunday's 27-21 win over the Baltimore Ravens, a 3-yard run with 5:09 left in the game. He got up and limped off the field.
