SteepleCats end Blue Sox win streak

HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - Things looked bleak for the North Adams SteepleCats (11-7) when they trailed by six runs in the fourth inning, but the North Adams SteepleCats recovered thanks to a key ground out in the ninth inning from Charlie Law to pull out an 8-7 win over the Holyoke Blue Sox (8-9) at MacKenzie Stadium.

With the score tied at seven, grounded out, scoring Conor Biggio.

It was a good day at the plate for the North Adams SteepleCats’ Law. Law went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the first inning.

Jeff Roy boosted his batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the North Adams SteepleCats. He singled in the first, fourth, and fifth innings.

Dan Kolodin handled the Holyoke Blue Sox’s lineup with ease, racking up six strikeouts. The North Adams SteepleCats’ pitcher gave up just four hits over 4 2/3 shutout innings.

Matt Longfield improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the North Adams SteepleCats. Longfield struck out two, walked none and gave up one hit.

Jhonneris Mendez (0-1) was the game’s losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed one run.
