AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - UMass Heads To Top-Seeded Boston College For Hockey East Quarterfinals
• For the second straight season, the UMass hockey team will head to Chestnut Hill to square off with Boston College in the first round of the Hockey East Tournament, beginning Friday night at Conte Forum. The Minutemen secured the eighth and final playoff spot with a tie against No. 14 Maine on Saturday, and will now take on the defending Hockey East and National Champion Eagles in a best-of-three set.
• The Minutemen finished the regular season in eighth place in the league standings with 16 points (5-16-6). UMass narrowly beat out Providence, which would have overtaken UMass via tiebreaker had Massachusetts lost to Maine on the final day of the regular season.
• Boston College, who enters the weekend ranked second in the country swept the season series with the Mass Attack, 3-0-0, with two of UMass’ losses coming by just one goal.
