(WWLP) - Super Bowl Sunday is for chili, beer and commercials, and there's a football game thrown in there somewhere. In Super Bowl 43, the Pittsburgh Steelers will win their 6th Super Bowl ring, beating the Arizona Cardinals 27-13. That's my prediction, check back on Monday just to see how right I am.
The Cardinals have all the hype surrounding them, but I still can't shake their performance in Foxboro. A 47-7 beatdown in week 16. Arizona didn't even look like a professional football team against the Patriots, it was embarrassing. Many people said that Arizona didn't even belong in the playoffs, now they are playing in the Super Bowl.
Since, they've turned it around and turned in a couple dominating performances in the playoffs, led by wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, who is the modern day version of Andre the Giant. Nobody knows how to defend him. Defensive backs are just stand there in awe. He's not 7 foot 6, but he plays like he's 9 feet tall, out jumping defenders and built like an ox. In the 2009 playoffs, Fitzgerald has been the 8th wonder of the world.
If Fitzgerald is Andre the Giant then Kurt Warner is Hulk Hogan. No matter how many times you knock him down or count him out, you know that he is going to wag his finger, dust himself off and drop the big leg on his opponent. From the Arena league to the Super Bowl, back to the bench, then exiled in Arizona behind Matt Leinart, before Warner got back up again to lead the Cardinals to the Super Bowl.
The problem with Arizona is that they need to score a lot ot win. Arizona has not won a game this season without scoring at least 23 points. Pittsburgh has only given up more than 24 points one time this season in 18 games.
While Ben Roethlisberger has fumbled more and thrown more interceptions than Warner, Warner is a ticking time bomb. If anyone watched the first half of the Cardinals game against the Jets, Warner imploded and I see that happening in the Super Bowl. Even most of his touchdown passes to Fitzgerald in the playoffs were just lobs into double-coverage. They weren't great passes, they were lucky and Fitzgerald made the play. The Steelers defense is not going to allow that to happen.
The Cards run of luck has run out, its not their fault, just the hand they've been dealt is too much to overcome.
So stir that chili, crack open a beer, enjoy the commercials, because this game is going to be over as quickly as it starts. The Steelers will get one for their other thumb.
