Winter Classic

SUFFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - The Westfield Torpedoes and Pioneer Valley Lightning played on Begley Pond in Suffield Connecticut on Saturday.

The mite teams, with players 5-8 years old had their own winter classic. T

The event's organizers told 22News the goal of the event is to have the players play outside like the Bruins and expose them to good old fashion pond hockey. The players had a blast.

Cassidy Begley of the Pioneer Valley Lightning said, "I got to play on my own pond, with my hockey team and it was really fun."

Westfield's Peter Chrisanthopoulus said he favorite part was "playing hockey."

The Falcons mascot screech even took part, playing the role of referee.
