The Springfield Falcons lost to the Manchester Monarchs 5-1 on Wednesday night at the Verizon Wireless Arena are in Manchester, NH. Matt Moulson opened the scoring for Manchester at 4:52 of the first period with a power play goal.
Springfield's Theo Peckham and Manchester's Marc-Andre Cliche dropped the gloves for the game's first fight late in the opening frame.
In the second period, Manchester built a 3-0 goal lead on goals from Cliche and Alec Martinez taking a three-goal advantage into the final 20 minutes.
In the third period, Gabe Gauthier expanded Manchester's lead to 4-0 at 4:20, but Springfield's Ryan Potulny tallied his 25th marker of the year at 7:39 of the final frame cutting Springfield's deficit to 4-1. Cliche added his second goal of the contest at 8:24 of the final period ending the scoring for the night.
