AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - The UMass football team will play an intersquad scrimmage on Saturday. That may help clear up the quarterback battle. Head Coach Kevin Morris told 22News that he hopes to have his 1st team in place by Thursday, when the team begins preparations for its season opener against Kansas State, on September 5th.
On the defensive side of the ball, we should see some changes. The Minutemen admitted to being disappointed with their performance last year. They say they're going back to basics.
"The biggest thing is that we weren't a team, we didn't do the little things", senior captain Jeromy Miles said. "No we're focusing on the fundamentals and everything else will take care of itself."
Defensive tackle Brandon Collier adds, "just filling your gaps, playing your role and just make plays."
