HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - A Holyoke woman is recovering in the hospital after allegedly being brutally attacked in her sleep by a former boyfriend.
Holyoke Police Sgt. Larry Cournoyer told 22News that a man broke into a 25-year-old woman's apartment around 4:30 a.m. Sunday on Chestnut Street and allegedly hit her on the head with a hammer.
22-year-old Oscar Guzman was caught by police and is being charged with home invasion and two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
Sgt. Cournoyer said that Guzman is a former boyfriend of the victim.
She is expected to recover.
