SPRINGFIELD, Mass.(WWLP) - Hurricane Earl is making some second guess their Labor Day weekend plans.
Jens Sparvy was going to go away, but when predictions about Hurricane Earl came in, he started worrying he'd be wasting money on his trip.
"We were going to go to Hampton Beach in New Hampshire, its definitely not going to happen because of hurricane Earl," said Sparvy.
AAA of Southern New England says that they were expecting holiday travel to be up this year, about 11% for the region.
They have been getting calls from concerned members, but so far, most aren't canceling any plans.
"They're kind of doing the wait and see approach to find out where the weather is going to hit," said Sandra Marsian, Vice President of AAA of Southern New England. "They're still looking to continue with their plans."
If Earl doesn't cause major damage, traffic is expected to be heavy during the start of the weekend.
However Earl could actually send people away for Labor Day.
"I was actually going to stay around here, but I might be deployed with the Red Cross to Cape Cod," said Angela Orlich.
Which means some may be spending the holiday weekend cleaning up a mess.
