NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - The phrase "fair weather" normally means mostly sunny. Sunday, it meant weather that was fit for the fair, the Three County Fair that is!

The Three County Fair continued to be a go-to destination for families across western Massachusetts.

"There's just so much, there's something for everyone, really. They have everything here and he just loves animals, they have a lot of those," said Clair Kirk-Pelissier from Belchertown.

The Three County Fair got off to a busy start late Sunday morning as families, with strollers in tow, poured through the gates, ready for food, games and fun.

The sun was shining and the ground was dry, a different scene than the weather we were dealing with around the time of the last Three County Fair.

This time last year western Massachusetts was drying out from tropical storm Irene, making this weekend this year a much improved one over the year before.

"I was hunkered down in my house, I wasn't going anywhere. Like a lot of people, we were taping windows and making sure everything was fine," said Matthew Steinberg of Bondsville who remembers preparing for Irene last year.

The weather was fine for the Labor Day weekend fair this year. Some clouds in the distance didn't worry people who said they would be at the fair whatever the weather

"I think you'd come no matter what, it's the end of the summer, beginning of the new school year and it can be raining cats and dogs, you just want to have a good time. But, it is nice to have pleasant weather," said Rick McGinn of Amherst.

The Three County Fair continues through Labor Day.
