AMHERST, Mass. (WWLP) - Despite Friday’s anticipated snowstorm , some businesses plan to stay open. One of those is a pizzeria that is known to remain open in spite of foul weather.

Antonio's Pizza is a staple in the college town of Amherst, especially for hungry students.

Manager Jay Carreiro says they're known for staying open during storms. He told 22News that dinning halls at the colleges tend to close, which makes for a rush of hungry students looking for hot food.  Carreiro says they don't plan on offering delivery services, but will have a full staff on Friday night.

“If they lose power, they can come here. We're always ready, we have the backup generator. We have flashlights, candles, everything ready to go; ovens operate on gas, so we make sure everyone can eat,” Carreiro said.

Antonio's Pizza plans to stay open until 2:00 A.M. Emergency officials say that now is the best time to charge your cell phones, tablets and laptops.  It's the best way to stay informed in case of a power outage.

The City of Northampton and the Town of Amherst have set-up special web pages to inform residents of storm preparations.
