Berkshires seeing less snow than other parts of WMass

PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - We have spent the last 24 hours or so watching the snow fall in all parts of the state. Many parts of Berkshire County received lesser amounts of snowfall than the Pioneer Valley , but the snowfall is still significant.

Pittsfield was quiet on Saturday morning, after a night where some restaurants and shops had closed early.

In downtown on Friday night, you could only see snow plows, and a few people out looking for a place to get warm and ride-out the storm. 22News caught-up with a few people who were still trying to make the most of the night.

“I despise it (the storm) with ever fiber of my being. I'm actually heading to the bar, though. Walking, since there's a ban about driving,” Marc Wrzesinski of Pittsfield said.

“The best place to be stuck is here, because we have all the food and all the booze. Couldn't be better,” Sabrina Tan of Lee said.

Berkshire County usually receives the highest amounts of snow from storms that hit western Massachusetts, but snowfall totals in Pittsfield Saturday morning ranged from about 9” to 12”; substantially less than some parts of Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties, which received nearly two feet.
