Gusty winds add chill to the air

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) - After some mild weather this week, winter came back Thursday.

It sure felt like winter out there with temperatures only in the 20s and with the gusty winds the wind chill made it feel like it was only in the teens.

After a stretch of days with temperatures in the 50s many of us might have thought the spring-like weather was here to stay, but that is not the case.

Officially it still is winter and with temperatures in the 30s Thursday, it felt like it. There was a mix of sun and clouds but there were a few passing flurries and the gusty winds added a chill to the air.

“It's cold today,” said Carl Peterson of Holyoke. “Yesterday was kind of mild, the day before was even warmer. It was almost t-shirt weather. I think spring is here, we may have a little cold snap but I think it's turned.”

And a sign that spring is almost here, the snow is pretty much all gone, especially in the lower Pioneer Valley.

Spring officially arrives next Wednesday at 7:02 a.m.
