SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - The Diocese of Springfield is urging area Catholics to be cautious when planning to travel to Mass over the weekend.

In a statement sent to 22News, Diocesan spokesperson Mark Dupont said that parishioners should heed all travel warnings and restrictions. He says that they are hopeful the storm will be over by Saturday afternoon, and conditions will be good for people to travel to Mass on Sunday morning.

Under Church law, Catholics are not required to attend Mass if there is grave difficulty impairing their ability to do so.
