SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Early season snows can rattle some nerves because it's been months since we've seen our last flakes.

Sometimes we can forget how to drive in snow, people fill up on bread and milk, and others buy generators and snow blowers at the first sign of accumulating snow.

While last year's October snowstorm showed us that it's good to be prepared, some people think we panic too much.

"I think people are stupid when it comes to that stuff." [Why is that?] "Because we've all been here before, I mean if you haven't been here before that's another matter, but most of us have been here before so people get panicky," said Sandy Thomson of Williamsburg.

Snow fall accumulation amounts are not expected to be much. Generally just a coating to an inch for the Pioneer Valley.

The snow is making for some slippery roads and a number of accidents have been reported. Also the speed limit along the Mass Pike has been lowered to 40 MPH.
