Feeling a lot more like December

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - After a pretty mild first week of December it finally felt more seasonable Thursday. 
   
Despite a chilly start, we saw plenty of sunshine Thursday, and even though it's December, we've had some warmer than normal temperatures. We've been in the mid and upper 50's most of this week.
  
With no snow on the ground the grass is even looking pretty green in some spots. On average we see our first inch of snowfall in the Springfield area on November 23rd. On December 1st we did have some snow and it looked and felt like winter. Parts of Hampshire, Franklin and Berkshire Counties saw an inch or two of snow but areas in the lower Pioneer Valley saw just a dusting.
  
That snow didn't last long as warmer air moved in creating some very dense fog Sunday. Most people 22News talked to wouldn't mind having a little snow for Christmas.

According to one Easthampton resident, “I would like to see some snow for Christmas Eve, but I'm not a skier, so winter is not my favorite season as far as snow goes; but, a little bit of snow for Christmas would be nice to make it cheery and bright.”

Mike Neveu of Easthampton told 22News, “Being the travel person I am on a moped I really don't appreciate icy streets, but for a White Christmas yes.”
  
The owner of the Union Mart in Easthampton, Abdul Butt, says snow can have a negative impact on his business. “When they close Route 141 for the snow and they have to clean up, I don't have business and I lose 30 to 40 percent.”
