SOUTHWICK, Mass. (WWLP) - By 9:00 A.M., the snow started to cover the ground across western Massachusetts, as the first flakes from a major winter storm have moved into our area.

On College Highway in Southwick, the road was clear on Friday morning, but it’s not expected to last. The region could see anywhere from 12” to more than 18” of snow over the next 24 hours.

22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor says that the snow will pick up in intensity as we head into the afternoon hours, with the heaviest snow in the evening and early Saturday morning. The heavy snow will be accompanied by high winds, with gusts of up to 50 miles per hour.
