SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - We're now heading towards the middle of October and it looks like the coldest air so far this season is on the way for this weekend.

After some gray and wet days the sunshine has returned but colder air is moving in.

A Freeze Watch has been issued for all of Western Massachusetts from late Friday night through Saturday morning.

Temperatures Friday night into early Saturday morning are expected to get down into the mid and upper 20's.

Temperatures this cold have the potential to kill crops and sensitive vegetation.

If you still have plants outside, you'll want to be sure to cover them up or bring them inside.
