CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - While some schools have already let out for the summer, others still have a couple more days to go.
At the Patrick E. Bowe School in Chicopee, open windows were a sign that the school probably isn't air conditioned, and that it would be hot and very uncomfortable inside on a day like Thursday.
Because of the excessive heat, schools in Chicopee had a half day Thursday.
Some parents who came to pick up their kids did what they could to protect themselves from the hot sun.
Parents did seem pretty happy that the kids were let out early.
"It was so hot they couldn't be in the building. It's just too much for them with breathing so getting out early, go home swim in the pool in the air conditioning keep them cool hydrated," said Nicole Vieu of Chicopee.
The last day of school for kids in Chicopee is Friday and that will also be a half day.
