NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) - Across western Massachusetts Friday morning, people are bracing for impact, and if you haven't completed your storm preparations by now, time is running out.
In Northampton and all across western Massachusetts, people have been scouring store shelves trying to stock up on all the essentials.
You still have time to do that, but it's a narrow window.
Gov. Patrick has asked that cars be off the roads by Noon.
Being prepared is important, because if you consider the amount of snow we're expected to get, and the high winds, there is a possibility of power outages. Utility companies have said they are prepared, but it's important to remember that they won't be able to begin restoring power until it's safe for them.
A home emergency kit is a good thing to have; stock your kit with canned food, water, batteries, flashlights, and needed medical supplies.
In Northampton, all city offices will be closing by noon, which is the case for many municipal offices across the area.
Many schools and businesses are also closing on Friday. You can find that information on 22News on the air, or on WWLP.com on any device.
