SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Some people call this summer the most uncomfortable one that they can remember.

Keeping cool is a priority. 22News Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor said Greater Springfield has had four heat waves since June 1. A heat wave means we've had three consecutive days with temperatures over 90. And the hottest it's been has been 98 degrees.

People at the Springfield Farmer's Market told 22News that this is the hottest summer they can remember.

“It's constant, it's daily, it's the humidity,” Ruth Boyd of Springfield said. “99, 98, just too much.”

“I don't remember heat like this, such a long stretch,” Carolyn Fitzgerald of Chicopee said. “I tell you, you just have to stay out of the Sun. It's so strong.”

But with another month of summer remaining, Storm Team Meteorologist Ashley Baylor says it's too early to tell If this will be one of Greater Springfield's hottest summers.
