CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Since Saturday, dozens of tractor trailers filled with emergency supplies have arrived at Westover Air Reserve Base in Chicopee.
By the time Hurricane Sandy reaches Western Massachusetts, there will be nearly 100 big rigs loaded with food, cots and other emergency supplies.
“Right now they're bringing tractor trailers of supplies. There's water, MRE's, tarps, that type of thing. They're for emergency supplies after the storm passes for all the affected areas,” said Bob Perreault, the Chief Emergency Manager of the 439th Airlift Wing.
Westover is a staging area for the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The tractor trailers will move at a moment's notice If and when the truckloads of emergency supplies are needed.
