SOUTH HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) - It was a pretty gray and damp start to October but nicer weather has arrived just in time for the start of the long Columbus Day weekend.
Now that the rain has come to an end and the fog is burning off the sunshine is bringing people out to enjoy the beautiful fall colors.
When the weather is nice it's a good thing for businesses like McCray's Farm in South Hadley.
“Because of the business we have we're totally weather based. If it's not nice people don't come out so it's been a relatively good year so I would say better than usual because of the weather,” said Doug McCray.
Jason Vaughn and his daughter Nora took advantage of the beautiful weather.
“It's nice out, the colors are out, we're here to do a little hay ride, do some pumpkin searching and going to feed some animals,” said Jason Vaughn of South Hadley.
Jason Carlson and his son had the same idea. “Just out with my son Jason Junior, just enjoying the nice weather. It's been a little rainy all week so it's nice to get out and enjoy the sunshine,” said Jason Carlson.
If you're thinking about getting out and enjoying the fall foliage over the holiday weekend we're seeing near peak color right now across most of western Massachusetts.
You should find some of the best color in Franklin County along Route 2, The Mohawk Trail.
