SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Unlike last year we've seen plenty of snow this winter and it looks like there is even more on the way.
Two weeks ago we were hit by a major snowstorm that dropped around two feet of snow on a good portion of western Massachusetts.
And with more snow on the way for this weekend it looks like we could see above normal snowfall this winter.
In an average winter the Springfield area picks up around 49 inches of snow. So far this year we've received 48.1 inches of snow and with more snow on the way this weekend we will likely surpass our average winter snowfall.
Last year we barely picked a foot of snow over the entire winter. People do seem to be enjoying the snow we've been getting this year.
“I'm not a huge fan of winter but I think it's been great, a lot of snow. The kids have been enjoying skiing and sledding and a lot of course snowball fights. I guess it's what to expect when you live in New England,” said Liz Kollias of Longmeadow.
“Last year we didn't have a lot of snow but this year we had the storm so we had a lot of snow so it was fun this year,” said Kosta Kollias of Longmeadow.
The sunshine and milder temperatures brought people out to Forest Park in Springfield on Friday but that will all be changing when the snow moves back in on Saturday.
