CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - It's only Wednesday, but the 22News Storm Team has been keeping a close eye on a winter storm for the end of the week.
People on Facebook and Twitter are all buzzing over the anticipated snowstorm.
The last major winter storm to hit western Massachusetts was October 2011 when more than 20 inches of snow buried the Berkshires, and power was out for days.
Since then, we had a quiet winter last year and this winter hasn't been very active, which is potentially what makes this storm a big point of interest.
While we still don't know exact details and impact, people around western Massachusetts are getting prepared.
"We will have the food in the house and should the electricity go out I will fire up the generator and I'll be happy,” said Patricia Kraske of South Hadley.
"As the day approaches definitely people get more excited about it. I know I work in the healthcare field so I have to prepare to go to work," said Johnathan Tomchak of Wilbraham.
With more than 24 hours to go until the storm could start, its intensity and the duration could change.
