DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Sandy left behind damage throughout western Massachusetts, and in Franklin County, some areas remain without power.
22News caught up with crews working on Upper Road in West Deerfield to repair a downed wire, one of many that came down amid Sandy’s strong winds.
WMECo Operations Manager Douglas Clarke told 22News that people should contact Western Massachusetts Electric Company at (877) 659-6326 if they are having an electrical problem.
The company’s Emergency Operations Center on Shelburne Road in Greenfield found 70 trouble locations.
Clarke said that out on the roads Tuesday they had “approximately 30 line crews fully engaged today as well as 15 tree crews, damage assessment teams.”
In Franklin County, most electrical customers have their power back, with the notable exception of the town of Heath (served by National Grid,) where most people remain without electricity. Additional scattered outages continued into Tuesday afternoon in Buckland, Charlemont, Colrain, Gill, Bernardston, Leyden, and Orange, among other communities.
You can track power outages in real time on the websites of WMECo ( WMECo mobile site )and National Grid. .
