(WWLP) - Tornado watches and warnings have been lifted across western Massachusetts following the approach of strong storms late Friday afternoon.
The tornado warning was issued after a storm with rotation had been tracked in the eastern suburbs of Hartford, Connecticut, it had then moved north into western Massachusetts, where it weakened. While radar indicated the rotation in the storm, there was no report of a tornado actually hitting the ground.
A tornado watch remained in effect in Hampden and Hampshire Counties after the storm had passed, but that has also been cancelled.
Meanwhile, a flash flood warning is in effect for Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties until 8:30 P.M. Roads could become flooded with inches of rain falling within minutes during heavy downpours. You are reminded- turn around, don't drown!
With additional downpours from today's storms and showers, there is also the potential for small hail, gusty winds, and frequent lightning.
