INDIAN ORCHARD, Mass. (WWLP) - Snow, mixed with sleet and freezing rain will slow the evening commute for western Massachusetts drivers on Monday.
Snowflakes started flying across the region before noon time, had already accumulated on grassy surfaces and some roads by 12:45. The light snow continued to accumulate into the afternoon.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation has reduced speeds on the Massachusetts Turnpike between Exit 6 in Chicopee and the New York state line down to 40 miles per hour, which is often done during inclement weather. There no reports of major accidents at this time.
Several area schools are dismissing early or cancelling after-school activities, and many area churches and after school programs have also called-off evening activities. Click here for a complete list of closings.
