(NBCNC) - After nearly a week of devastating winds and rain the West Coast is getting a bit of a break from the dangerous weather this morning, but more could be on the way.

Trees and power lines are down, rivers and creeks, pushed past their banks.

"Everybody behind us has lost almost everything. Everybody's been evacuated. It's horrible. I've never seen anything like this in real life, never," says Citrus Heights resident Mike Page.

The rain has turned to snow across the Sierras, and even at lower elevations many areas may finally get a bit of a break.

"The amount of water that has come out of the sky, is just amazing. It's amazing," says Truckee resident Peggy Lindsay.

Forecasters warn more rain could begin to fall again later Monday in many of the hardest hit communities and continue through the middle of the week.
