SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Our unofficial transition into fall might mean thinking about changes in your garden.
As we head into cooler weather, now is the perfect time to plant trees and grass seed, or bury bulbs for spring bloom.
Even if we aren't done with the summer heat just yet, you shouldn't be afraid to start planting now.
"It's just moisture, if you can keep up with watering, you can plant anytime,” said Nalini Benoit, Assistant Store Manager at Sixteen Acres Garden Center in Springfield.
“Just the fall helps you, because it's a little bit cooler. It's not mid-summer where you'd have to water every day."
If your lawn didn't do well after the summer heat, now can be a great time to repair it. Raking some compost and lawn seed over your damaged lawn can help its health before winter starts.
