BOSTON (AP) - Gov. Deval Patrick is lifting the state's travel ban in some areas, and will end it statewide by 4 p.m.

Areas west of Interstate 91 and Nantucket island, where less snow has fallen, is being lifted. Other areas of the state are still barred to most driving until 4 p.m. Saturday.

The MBTA has canceled train and bus service in the Boston area Saturday as roads and surface tracks are cleared. The T shut down at 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Logan Airport says it will be Saturday night before any flights will arrive, after it opens a runway. Operations had to shut down overnight because of whiteout conditions and nearly 2 feet of snow. Travelers should contact their airlines to check on flights for Sunday.
