BLANDFORD, Mass. (WWLP) - While many of us were left without many issues from this storm, not everyone in western Massachusetts can say that.
Thousands of people woke up on Tuesday morning the same way they woke up at the end of last October, with the power out. This all thanks to trees knocking power lines down, including one power line that blocked off traffic on Route 23 in Blandford."
Power outages caused road closures which made for some long detours for morning drivers.
For George Ouelette, he needs power to keep his electric cow fence on and his meats cool, but it went out with a bang.
"All of a sudden, BABOOM, that transformer went off and it went off twice. It was nothing but blue here, and then it was out and we were out of power and that's when I started my generator and I had it running since then," said Ouelette from Blandford.
The wind didn't just cause power outages, but damage too.
Some homeowners had fences knocked over and other people had the siding partly ripped from their homes.
"Because the wind was coming in from a totally different direction than it usually does, it just got right up underneath the shingles. And just started stripping them off, I actually lost some in the back too,” said Glen Bessette of Blandford.
After a windy night on Monday, there was relief Tuesday morning knowing the worst was over with even some sun shining through the clouds.
