CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A Winter Storm Warning is in effect for much of western Massachusetts from late Tuesday night through Thursday morning.
Western Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties, as well as northern Berkshire County are under a Winter Storm Warning, and eastern Franklin County and southern Berkshire County are under a Winter Weather Advisory. There are currently no advisories or warnings for eastern Hampden and Hampshire Counties.
Snow, sleet, and freezing rain is possible during the overnight hours. Snow accumulation should be light for the lower Pioneer Valley, with only about a coating to 3 inches. the Hilltowns, Franklin County, and the Berkshires could see 2-6" of snow, with some areas of the Berkshires receiving more than 6".
A Winter Storm Warning is issued when significant amounts of snow are expected or occurring, making travel hazardous or impossible.
A Winter Weather Advisory is issued when periods of snow will cause travel difficulties.
