Winter Storm Watch Monday Night - Tuesday

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for all of western Massachusetts from Monday evening through Tuesday afternoon. We're tracking a winter storm that looks to bring us snow Monday night then a wintry mix on Tuesday.

Right now it looks like snow will start Monday evening and pick up overnight and may mix with sleet.

On Tuesday the snow and sleet will mix with freezing rain and possibly rain in the lower Pioneer Valley. That will keep accumulations down in the Springfield area but to the north and west, especially in the hilltowns, several inches of snow and sleet is possible.

This will likely make for slow going for the morning commute on Tuesday.

Here is a look at that latest snowfall map .

A Winter Storm Watch is issued for the potential of accumulating snow of 6 or more inches in a 12 hour period or 8 or more inches in a 24 hour period.

Anyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans should winter weather develop.
