SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - A Winter Weather Advisory has been extended for Franklin, Hampshire and western Hampden County through 4PM.
The 22News Storm Team is tracking some wintry weather today. Widespread steady rain and freezing rain has ended, but scattered freezing drizzle is still possible into the mid-afternoon.
The latest timing for this wintry mix looks like this:
As far as snowfall goes, I do not expect additional accumulations of snow .
Spotty freezing drizzle is the main concern through the mid-afternoon, as the more widespread and steady freezing rain has ended. Freezing rain/drizzle happens when a shallow area of below freezing temperatures occurs near the surface, with warmer than freezing temperatures occurring a short distance above the surface. Rain falls through the warm layer and freezes on contact with below freezes surfaces on the ground.
Another round of rain heads our way tonight, but this rain should not be freezing rain.

Scattered showers and sprinkles this afternoon into tonight. Warmer with thunderstorms tomorrow.
