WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - Line workers and tree crews from western Massachusetts and beyond gathered at the Eastern States Exposition’s Better Living Center in West Springfield early Monday morning.
The crews came from as far away as the Midwest, and will assist Western Massachsuetts Electric Company as they gear-up for the Hurricane Sandy repair and restoration effort.
The highest winds from this storm are expected on Monday night and early Tuesday morning, and that could cause power outages throughout the area. Though the winds were mild Monday morning, scattered outages were already reported in the Berkshires and Hilltowns.
You can track the latest power outages with real-time outage maps on the websites of WMECo and National Grid .
If you are a WMECo customer and want to report a power outage or downed wires, in the Springfield area call (413) 781-4300. Outside the Springfield area, call (877) 659-6326.
