Wake up call! Put a little caffeine in your 'cup'

INDIANAPOLIS - I am of the school of thought that you can’t have too much chocolate and you can’t have too much coffee. This week’s cupcake takes that thought and blends it together to create this delish treat that with one bite can make you feel like you are sitting in your fave local coffee shop.

I love a great coffee shop. The fact that I can walk a few blocks from my house and get a great cup of Joe means a lot. These small, neighborhood businesses tend to promote the neighborhood, hosting poetry readings, live music and hanging area artists’ works. All just swell things to do.

The personal service at a small business is another reason I always return, to get a refill on good vibes and great coffee. If you are a regular, they almost always know your usual order, and usually remember your name. +5 for customer service in my book.

And thinking about my favorite coffee shop, I mixed up this cupcake conspiracy recipe, combining my favorite flavors – vanilla, mocha and chocolate – into this light treat with shot of caffeine.

Top this sweet treat with a few chocolate-covered coffee beans to give it a bit of a crunch.

Pro-tip:
Buttercream can be a pain. Like a BIG pain. If you let it sit out too long before icing, it will get stiff. *sadface* Keep a damp towel over the bowl while waiting to frost. It will keep your icing from drying out.
